PM MITRA TEXTILE PARK (VIRUDHUNAGAR)

Strategic Vision: “Farm to Foreign”

The PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park in Virudhunagar is a cornerstone of India’s 5F vision: Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign. Launched as India’s first PM MITRA park in 2023, it received a final central allocation of ₹1,900 crore in July 2025 to accelerate its completion by September 2026.

Infrastructure & Scale

  • Land Parcel: 1,052 acres in E. Kumaralingapuram village.
  • Plug-and-Play Units: Over 1.3 million sq. ft. of ready-to-use industrial space to reduce setup time for MSMEs and large enterprises.
  • Integrated Value Chain: Consolidates spinning, weaving, processing, printing, and garmenting in a single location to slash logistics costs.

Sustainability & Social Welfare

The park is designed as a “Greenfield” smart city for textiles, prioritising environmental standards and worker dignity.

Environmental Infrastructure

  • ZLD System: A 15 MLD (Million Litres per Day) Zero Liquid Discharge Common Effluent Treatment Plant ensures no untreated wastewater leaves the facility.
  • Waste Management: Dedicated units for hazardous and solid waste management.

Worker-Centric Facilities

  • Dormitories: High-standard housing for 10,000 workers.
  • Support Services: Includes a health centre, crèche facility, and a skill development centre (linked with the Samarth Scheme) to train the local workforce.

Economic Impact & Projections

The park positions Tamil Nadu—which already contributes one-third of India’s textile wealth—as a global leader in Technical Textiles (medical, automotive, and defence-grade fabrics).
