1. Overview of the Agreements
During PM Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Port of Spain, India and Trinidad & Tobago signed six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to deepen cooperation across diverse sectors.

2. Major Humanitarian & Digital Gifts
In addition to the formal agreements, PM Modi announced several high-impact gifts:
- Healthcare Support: Gifting of 20 Hemodialysis Units and 2 Sea Ambulances.
- Education: A donation of 2,000 laptops to support T&T’s digital education initiatives.
- Agriculture: Handing over of $1 million worth of agro-processing machinery to NAMDEVCO.
- Prosthetics: Announcement of a 50-day Artificial Limb Fitment Camp for 800 people.
3. Digital & Climate Leadership
- UPI Adoption: Trinidad & Tobago became the first Caribbean nation to adopt India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
- Climate Initiatives: T&T officially joined the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA) and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).
- Solar Energy: India will provide a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system for T&T’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters.
4. Diaspora Connectivity
- OCI Extension: PM Modi announced that Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards will now be available to the 6th generation of the Indian diaspora (previously capped at the 4th generation).
